CARLSBAD STATE BEACH

Located in Carlsbad Village, Carlsbad State Beach is easily accessible by several pedestrian staircases to the water. The beach is a narrow strip of sand and can become crowded from all of the summer visitors. Carlsbad State Beach is family-friendly and is best suited for swimming, playing, sunbathing, and lounging for the day. Because of its proximity to Carlsbad Village, this beach is within walking distance of several dining options and The Carlsbad Inn. Some neighborhoods that are close to Carlsbad State Beach are The Foothills and Robertson Ranch.

TAMARACK BEACH

Tamarack Beach is located at Carlsbad Blvd and Tamarack avenue and this is a wide sandy beach with a large parking lot and amenities for visitors. Waves can be large at Tamarack and because of the location of this beach, it can be crowded on a regular basis. Tamarack is a wonderful beach for surfing, sunbathing, playing, and lounging for the day. Some neighborhoods that are close to Tamarack Beach are Robertson Ranch and The Foothills.

TERRAMAR

Terramar is a narrow strip of sand between the water and the bluffs. With limited beach access, the best place to access Terramar is the pedestrian staircase located at Carlsbad Blvd and Cerezo Dr. At high tide the beach is almost inaccessible due to the water going all the way to the bluffs. At low tide, there is plenty of uncrowded beach to play or spend a lazy day. No amenities or lifeguards are present at Terramar. Some neighborhoods that are close to Terramar are Robertson Ranch, The Foothills, Bressi Ranch, and Treviso.

PONTO STATE BEACH

South Ponto State Beach is one of the widest beaches in Carlsbad and is locate at the base of the Alila Marea Beach Resort. This beach is divided by a jetty to Bataquitos Lagoon, and the area to the south of the jetty is the widest and most sandy part of the beach. The area to the north of the jetty is unique in that a large portion of the beach is covered in a large pile of river rock. At high tide, the sand will be inaccessible due to the number of rocks. This beach is good for surfing, sun bathing, and volleyball. Some neighborhoods that are close to Ponto State Beach are Hanover Beach Colony, Poinsettia Cove, Waters End, Harbor Pointe, and Treviso.
